The Magical World of Wicky

I found it hard to start writing this story. As I sat in front of the computer ready to write down my thoughts and activities about this event I suddenly felt a wave of emotion come over me. My mind went blank and my fingers just sat on the keys. I suppose I realized this was the last story I would write for our very first racing season and the whole year just came rushing back into my mind like it all just happened this weekend. But the Final Round of our very first year of racing is what I want to talk about right now.....

The weekend started Friday evening for us when everyone started to arrive at Wickys Wonderful World. The weather was beautiful on top of the hill over looking all the farms and landscapes. Like clock work all the NEOC Staff was setting up and getting ready for another race weekend. By 9am on Saturday all our favorite faces started mulling around with smiles for us in anticipation for Saturdays activities. 11am we opened sign ups and the day just soared after that....1pm Tykes on Bikes lined up to give us a show on just how much grit they have inside. These little guys were the stars of the day and the racers for tomorrow. We can't wait to see them on the lines! 3pm The Peewees were lining up to take off on the green flags command for the last time this year. The course challenged their skills they learned all year. They had motocross, hills, mud, woods, dusty grass track, wide open fast-keep er pinned section, off camber and even streams to cross. It's amazing to see these kids ride these types of terrain all in one race and never once did they think that they couldn't do it. From the fastest to the newest rider, all these kids have come so far in just a short time and they have fought so hard for the places they took in their class and in most classes it came down to this last race to determine what place they took in the championship. At the end of the race they were all gathered around each other bench racing, congratulating each other with smiles and hand shakes. True Champions of the Heart!

The Pit bikers ran the same course as the Peewees. When we said this was going to be an Offroad Pit bike Championship Series we meant what we said and we have learned that PIT BIKERS RULE! This was a fun learning eye opener for us. We can not wait until next year to see how many more Pit bikers show up to have a little fun and a whole lot a competition. Thanks for a great year of racing!

Saturday Night was our favorite part of the weekend. It was MAGICAL. All of the campsites were "spooked up" for our trick or treat night. It was so much fun going around with the kids to all the sites filling our bags with goodies. Grown ups, kids and even the dogs were dressed up in cute, funny, scary and hysterical costumes. Going through the corn maze...being "pelted" with the corn...It was different then any other Saturday race night we have ever done or been to. It was special, wonderful and magical and we thank everyone of you for making it so GREAT! We could not have asked for a more perfect last Saturday night to spend with all of you on the closing of our first season! THANK YOU for taking part in everything. For those that missed it, well, you really missed it!

Sunday morning started early with chilly winds whipping around the hill top. The flags waved all day long. 8:30am the Youth lined up for what was probably the last time on the youth line for a lot of them. I am always emotional at the end of a season during the youth race because I know it will be the last time I see most of their faces on the that line. (including our daughter this year) I know its inevitable and a good thing but watching them grow from the struggles and challenges of the peewees through the honing of skills with the youth and then off to race with the big dogs is very special and rewarding to us. Many of the AA, A & B riders now, we have witnessed moving up through the Youth & PW ranks with all the trials, tribulations & accomplishments that go along with making your way to the top. We have also been witness to these riders coming back to help the youth and take part in guiding them to become good adult riders. That is the best reward of all. Passing of the torch.

So the battles of the day we will talk about....

In the Peewee it goes to the 10-12el class. The top riders in that class aggressivley switched positions the entire race. It was an absolute blast to watch. The chips fell like this, 1st went to #644 Cody Lore, 2nd #910 River Sewell & 3rd threw some girl power into the mix #912 Gianina Yaros leaving her brother with some of her roost to clean off his goggles 4th #200 Wally yaros.

The youth Pit bike Spike Buck class came down to this last race to see who would win the championship and in true fashion it came down to the very finish between the top 2 finishers. 1st place #167 Mike Mcgee & 2nd #19 Jeff Hall. What a blast to watch these boys bang bars all year and have so much fun on the last race knowing only one of them would take it and be so happy for each other. True Sportsmanship...One of the finest qualitys a young man could own.

There were many great battles in the Youth but 3 were goose bump incredible for the win. 1st was the battle for 2nd & 3rd in the AA Youth between #504 Tanner "Wild Man" Thomas & #104 David "the Sheriff" Worden. These boys just hammered those bikes back and forth for 7 hard laps to finish tire to tire right to the checkered. Wildman got the Sheriff by a knobby and a sweat bead. 2nd battle was the 12-13 85 boys #131 Tegan "the Tiger" Temple & #160 Corby Gill only 4 seconds apart and that was just enough time to catch our breath after they flew past us for 7 laps. The final youth goose bump battle to mention for the 10-11 85 championship was again between two young men that have not just shown exemplimary Sportsmanship all through this year but all through their racing careers. 1st #19 Jeffery "the Gentleman" Hall & 2nd #167 "Git up n Go" Mike McGee. They know what its about...not just the win but the hand shake and friendship in the end.

The Main event, of course, was not lacking in battles by any means. The top overall postitions were true blue main event action. A Heavy #185 Jesse Gill, AA #307 Mikey Potts & A Light #475 Zack Smith all hammered it out through some tough terrain that was lots of fun but made you work for what you wanted. These guys gave us a show the entire race. To see these guys throw those bikes around like tinker toys and go that fast was a real treat. It was a great finish for the season.  Thanks for a great race guys!

We want to thank all that came out to share in our last event of the year. It has been a wonderful year and we could not have asked for a better 1st year. It means a lot that all of you came out and took part in our dream! Thats the thing about dreams...there are no limitations, they can be what ever you want them to be. All you have to do is reach for them! We're reaching for the Stars.....
