Rd 9 CCFG 2 October 2nd & 3rd 2010 Daily Journal We made the paper! TimDPhoto.com. He got Super Star shots of EVERYONE! Results Pictures complete. Videos posted as completed. WHEW WHAT A BARN BURNER! We set records across the board. 780 riders, 2000+ spectators and one helluva good time. We are all whooped and exhausted. Everyone worked so hard to ensure this giant event stayed at a high quality level. No matter what issue came to the forefront it was dealt with an immediate and professional attitude. This was no doubt another incredible event that will go down in our ever growing book of races to remember. Mount Michelin was a success and a spectator extravaganza thanks to Greg Norberg and his posse. We are still breaking down whats left from the race but I have to tell all of YOU how thankful we are for making clean up a breeze. Trash detail after an event just plain sucks! With all the hoards of people we thought for sure trash would be an issue-It wasn't. When the parking lot emptied there was not a lot of trash laying around. It made our job easier and much less gross. We sincerely THANK YOU for respecting the land and us by putting the trash where it belongs. We would like to thank the Millville Police dept., CCFG Board members, Belleplain Ambulance, Cumberland County, All of our sponsors, The Entire NEOC Staff, Volunteers and rider families for doing your part to make this Round 9 a huge success! TOP NOTCH! MOOSE RACING, HRP SPORTS, PARTS UNLIMITED, SKORBORDZ, TD PHOTO IMAGING, SUNOCO RACE FUELS, SCOTT USA, FAIRWAY CYCLE, RIDERS CHOICE, RACERS EDGE, OFFROAD CYCLES, THORN CYLES, TOWN & COUNTRY, SPECTRO OILS, MONKEY BUTT POWDER, A.B.S.SIGNS, TRAIL RIDER MAGAZINE, ADVANCE TREADS, SOUTH JERSEY TRUCK ACCES., WATER GAP COFFEE CO., RAFINES EXCAVATING, TEXAS ROAD HOUSE Rd 9 CCFG 2. Barn Burner is the adjective for this event. I don’t know what it is that draws the out pour of racers and spectators to this event but the atmosphere and 360 degrees of viewing has got to play a part in the reason. Our fairgrounds event is like no other because it offers a small piece of everything you can do with an offroad dirt bike in one incredibly fun course. Theresa has done all the number crunches and it looks like we underestimated the turnout. From the tikes clean through to the main event we hit the 800+ mark. All we can say is, huh? Wha? Fer real? FWAP! That was the sound of all our hands hitting our foreheads at the same time. I can’t believe we survived this nor’easter. We did and it was done as one gigantic unit. The links keep extending and hooking on to yet another strong link to help pull this train to the next station. Woo-woo All aboard the crazy train! Saturday morning came quick. The parking lot was almost completely filled by noon. Our registration girls are always professional and efficient. They were able to get everyone through with minimal wait or trauma. These girls are the key to Theresa being able to score that large of a number with few to zero issues. We wish more people would take advantage of the pre-registration that we offer. It really is a very simple process that takes minutes with no lines. As our series continues to grow I think more of our regulars will realize that it’s the ticket to simplifying their sign up experience. 11am tutor time was out in the whoops area and Dan the man was back in front of the class teaching his little sponges what he has learned from 30 years of riding and racing. We love this program for many reason but the greatest one is the basic fact that we get to teach and train our racers from the ground up. How often do you get an opportunity to be able to mold and create racers with the knowledge, skill and values that will shape and continue to better our sport for another generation. We are not blind to this chance and we are taking full advantage of our position by grabbing these fresh new minds and bodies to show them the proper trail to travel. They will pass on the same knowledge when its their turn and so on and so on….. Our sport will live a long and good life because of these beautiful biker babies. Thank you to all the parents that are allowing us to have our greatest dream fulfilled. 12 noon is our favorite time of the whole weekend because of the reason I just spoke of. A record 39 Tikes on Bikes and hundreds of spectators gathered around to witness the start of our future NEOC top guns event. They covered the whoops, tire mountain, some off camber stuff and few regular jumps. We had people standing in awe of these kids. They were amazed at what was happening. Hearing about this program means nothing until you come take part and actually feel this program. You will become a believer. 1pm and it’s time for our Oil Injected racers, the first of forty three classes, to take off the line. It is this group of racers where the greatest points battle is for the season. Our overall winner and 4-6 OI first place #237 Tyler Kowalski is tied for points with second place #89 Wayne Cox. Going into our last event to determine the winner for the season puts pressure and nerves at the front not just for the racer but the parents and mechanics. What ever the out come, no matter who takes the lead spot, both are the winners because they gave everything and most of all sportsmanship was always waiting at the finish line. These kids are only six years old with a life time of racing and friendship ahead of them. Relax and have fun at Monster Buck! 7-8 OI winner and points leader #316 Jonathan Miller fought against #515 Hunter Keen and third place #84 Mark Brogen to keep his lead spot. This was a fun event to watch. 3pm 80+ PW racers were waiting at the start for their 10 second warning. When Todd dropped the flag our leader claimed the course before he even got to the holeshot. 7-9 65 winner Ricci Randanella is a motorXer by trade so he comes to town when we are at the fairgrounds and were glad because he’s a good racer and a great kid. Second place #38 Brandon Gahm ran behind points leader #26 Kyle Tino by seconds until the last lap when he made his move for position. Taking her second win in the Thumper class this season #618 Cortney Abrams was flexin her girl power the whole race. #125 Chris Blackburn claimed second and the points lead on his fifth lap. Third place was sowed up by #114 Kenny Kasprzak. Our 4-8 50 winner was #288 Michael Beeler. Second and third place is taking us to the last event of the year as a nail biter. #136 Colby Davis took back the points lead by one over #41 Jason Tino. Just because these are young kids does not lessen the stress of the situation. They are very aware of what is at stake for round 10. We are in awe of these young racers. Just breathe ad relax. Racing is 90% mental so keep your minds focused on fun. The 10-12 el class is not a super tight points battle but its not sowed up either. Lead man is #460 Beau Hickman and this is exciting for him to end the season and hopefully wrap his championship up on his fathers property. Good luck kiddo. Second place #399 Austin Raines finished just ahead of #813 Adam Exel who is also making a charge for the championship. 4-9 El winner sealed up his championship with one left to go #117 Ryan Gross has had a great year of racing. #288 Craig Cossaboon took second which bumped him up to second in points. Third place had his best race ever #454 Cameron Ritchie, which also gave him a bump in his year end position so far to fifth place. Whew, is this crazy cool or what? Going into this last event every class has a nail biter for points some where and we have only touched on the kids so far. 5pm a record breaking herd of 117 Bucks and Does strutted to the line to lock horns with their challenger in anticipation of the seasons end. The hunters and the hunted rubbed any remaining velvet from their horns and left a scent trail throughout the entire course so that all will know where they stand during the last match at Rd 10 Beau’s Monster Buck Woods. They ran so hard, fast and close together that the scoring computer froze. Slow through scoring means SLOW THE #%@& DOWN THROUGH SCORING! Next time we break out the double barrel and give you a load of buck shot in butt to get our point across. Top three leading the herd were from our Mega Buck division. #96 Sean Gaughan, #32 Kevin Bennett and #85 Ryan Klair. The battles just took your breath away during this event. First 12 point and fourth overall #102 Sammy Hansen had fellow 12 pointer #72 Carmen Simonetti rippin branches down with his horns tryin to push Sammy out of the lead. Young Buck leader and fifth overall #393 Philip Morshead went at it with Mega Buck #44 Alan Jessat for an exact finish in timing. Eighth and ninth overall were the next young bucks to the bait pile #21 Cody Steele and #36 Chris Gordon. Our first Big Slam Daddy was #737 “Super Sonic” Sumpter followed up by Ruttin Buck #906 Jeremy Williams who has proven to be a freak of nature on a pit bike. #24 Chester Wilcox was the second BSD to the barrels right ahead of BSD #515 Jeff Hickman. You boys better look out cause you are entering his domain next. He knows where all the good rubbin trees grow! In the big brown eyed Doe class we have a few females who have grown their own set of horns and have locked them the last two events. #615 Shawn Davidson and #629 Samantha Hill came to the bait pile as one hungry bear. Another female racer that was first to show her horns comes from the Ruttin bucks #56 Megan Horseman is second in points for her class. Top three Spike bucks in our youth were #122 Dillan Abrams, #198 William Sigler folled up by #312 Sal Cusimano. First Button Buck to nibble on the acorn was #185 Johnny Manera. When all the crazy bucks cleared the trail we let our beautiful Mama Does go out and graze in safety and peace. They end the races in the same manner that our tikes start them-with a smile and good feelings. Once our computer recovered from its nervous breakdown from scoring the herd with Mad Cow Disease we were able to start the main attraction for Saturday night. PBBR NEOC style. Pit Bike Barrel Racing under the lights. With the “Volunteers” band jamming the fairgrounds and city of Millville out we watched 24 rodeo racers take on a challenge of speed and skill. It was a lot of fun that you had to experience to really understand how incredibly cool the PBBR has become. Coolest of them all was #737 Joey “Super Sonic” Sumpter with 17.40 sec. Second and last years reigning champ #73 Vern “Hacksaw” Wood in 18.00 flat. Third place #32 KB & the Dog with 18.25sec. After all the time clocks were put away it was time to go chill out and talk about the next days events while listening to the Volunteers play the last of their rockin tunes. 8:30am 160 youth took to the line so thousands of people-literally- could watch them showcase their skills they’ve been honing and polishing all season. Our shining star was #2 Jeffery Hall but racing elbow to elbow with him was Points leader #1 Robbie Civiletti and the two of them together made such a glare of greatness that everyone had to put on their shades. Awesome race boys. 12-15100 was taken by one of our old school boys #983 Austin “Timex” Lucas. Second place name #222 Levi Catlett and third #795 Fransico Held. A new name for the 14-15 85 game. A first win this season for a great kid. #295 Jared Wobensmith gave himself a bump in points. Hoding his second place points #666 J-Rod took the last seventh lap in his class. Our youth NEOC top gun for this plaque and 12-13 85 winner #906 Jeremy Williams commonly known as “Fuzzball” is on his way to taking this championship. Second place #543 Tanner Barnhardt took himself to second in points over third place and points #122 Dillan Abrams. Another nail biter. Keeping his place as points leader going into this last event 10-11 85 winner #312 Sal Cusimano ran a dominate race against #58 Gary Enman who climbed a rung on the ladder of points to second. #20 Ryan Hall ran his best race yet this season for a comfortable third place finish. Our 13-15 150 class is coming down to the last event to determine the champion. Coming into this round we had a tie for first place points, going into round 10 #909 Johnathan Hiles isin the lead over #289 Kevin Adams by three points now. 10-11 65 was a great challenge between first #140 Brock Lore and points leader #98 Matthew Cropper in second. Taking his fourth win this season #292 Tyler TayvinskI of the 10-12 125 class proved he still has the fight in him. Second place #70 Brandon Ritchie fought hard over #50 Brandon Cronin to keep his position. Our points leader and possible ELW class champion #712 Kiersten McDonal kept her charge on to stay ahead of #314 Emily Zadroga and #143 Amanda Stites. With two points separating Emily and Amanda I know the last round is going to super exciting and an all out bar bangin knobby rubbinn rush for the flag. I am so proud of these girls and all of our youth riders. We want all of you to remember that no matter how this season ends in points, there is only one way that really counts and that is as friends. Be proud and happy for each other. You gave it your all and remember that next year we get to do this all over again. Well 11am came with a thunder like never before. 227 C riders broke all records for us. Having that many big bikes together at one time on the start with the majority of them being 4 strokes, there is no picture or story to express what we were seeing. When they all were revving during the hole shots you could feel the energy so much it took over your entire being so you felt nothing but raw emotion that consumed every part of you for a brief moment. You had to embrace it or it would probably scare the crap outta you. Lol The Crazy Train! We only touch on the top riders but all two hundred plus racers just rocked our world for an hour and a half. #35 Larry Gordon from the Ind & Mech class took the checkered like a young rider. Our B Super Senior group was owned by #324 Carl Rubino. Next racers on the line are the women and what a race they gave us. #615 Shawn Davidson came in a hair before #231 Nicole Hiles again. C Heavy winner #444 Michael Purificato is probably racing as a C rider for the last time at Monster Buck. C 4 Stroke #841 Jimmy Maul held strong to the finish ahead of #783 Jonathah Edel. #153 Ethan Jaudas won the C Light with the ease of some one moving to the main event. Now this next class is C Vet and with all the smack down talk going around this group of racers I can’t help but cheer for #75 Robert Robbins when he takes a win because he usually gets razzed the most for believing in his good luck rose petals. Real men wear pink. Our last line to leave is C Senior and these ol’ dogs can run with the best of ‘em. Top senior here today will likely be on of the top senior in the B event next year. #662 Frank Smith ran the gauntlet mixed in with all the young guns. 1:30 had 11 classes waiting to showcase the fastest and most skilled riders the east coast has to offer. Our main event is the one every rider wits to watch because it is where they all dream to be. When you make it to the A and B lines it tells you that all your years of hard work and dedication to becoming the best rider you can be has finally paid off. Next your goal changes to trying for the overall against the AA wicked fast and skilled. Our fastest for this event was AA #356 Ryan Rodgers and reaching for his goal to take the overall against Rodgers was first place A Heavy and second everall #306 Kyle Mcdonal followed up by second AA #8 Jesse Groemm. First A Light and double A quality #326 Kenny Tenner. He too is reaching for his life long dream of the AA overall. A vet is our 30+ guys and #96 Sean Gaughan has moved into his thirties with great ease by always taking top billing when he comes to race with us. A Senior was taken by #181 Norm Innis who represents Fairway Cycle but #950 Glann Scherer was riding his back knobby ready to take his spot if he made a mistake. Our A Super Seniors are the most experienced of all our racers. They are the 50+ group that were the racers to beat back in the day. #16 Henry Knabe and #34 Keith Rodgers showed that they still are the racers to beat today. Wisdom trumps youth every time. B Heavy had a new name take the win #850 Tonido Dixon, lets hope we see him at the monster buck too. Our B Light winner has sealed up the championship and is going to tread into the A watering hole at this last event. #504 Tanner Thomas is reaching for his goal of the overall too. #85 Ryan Klair took the School Boy crown like he already graduated. We had a great battle in our B Vet class between winner #970 David Dowgiallo and #97 Tony Shaw. They are some of our top dogs n the B division. Last but certainly not least we have our B Senior line and it is packed with all dads that are riding with their kids now making them better riders for each event. First B Senior Dad was #38 Randy Hentges with #912 Bob Holt and #660 Gary Stites close in tow. With the last event coming up fast we have a lot of classes waiting in limbo to see where and who will be in the top spots. I know I will not be alone in speculating on some of the out comes. We wish everyone good luck. Get plenty of rest and remember it doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you know you gave it your very best. See everyone at the Monster Buck Nail Biter!! |
