Northeast Offroad Championship Series
A Monster buck survives on keen Instincts & Senses. It’s no accident that he is King of the woods and sought after by all that enter his domain. Can you Survive this storm and prove that Tim of TD Photo Imaging got monster shots of everyone. Check 'em out........ 485 riders came out to prove that they too are thee elusive monster buck and can survive another nor'east storm! Rd 5 May 30th & 31st Beau's monster buck was a thinking mans game. It wasn't about speed; it was about picking & choosing your lines. Sometimes you have to slow down to go fast. It is true that the Elusive Monster Buck lives deep in those woods. He has survived to become the biggest & strongest by using his keen senses & acute wit picking & choosing what trail to travel. This was, without a doubt, a true harescramble survival run and test to man & child alike. Saturday we started the weekend with the new changes for the tikes & 4-8 oi kids. High noon 14 tikes breeched the monster woods with no fear. We had a sight for sore eyes back on the line after a long recovery from a serious injury (not motorcycle related) Ty Plummer was back by his daughter, Alexis' side. What a blessing to see his & her smiles again. 1pm 25 4-8 oi's set out for the first time on their own and you couldn't imagine how they spread their wings and soared. Without the pressure of the big, faster bikes on them made a huge difference in how they raced. They were aggressive, made passes, cuttin' turns in and straight up bar to bar battling with each other. Why we didn't think of this sooner is beyond me. #55 Tyler massie proved to be thee elusive buck for this event but he was lockin' horns with 2nd #529 judge tice & 3rd #280 "tom cat" Lloyd. With their new found freedom the future is very exciting for this group! 3pm 61 Pw's took to the front lines to face 3 miles of monster woods that lay ahead of them. Without the worries or interruptions of the little guys it seemed to really change the playing field for the fast youngins. It opened the gates for full on fair battle. 7-9 65 were the first to bang the bars and rub the velvet off their horns. 1st #20 "lunch box" Ryan Hall went head to head with 2nd #312 sal cusimano. Thumper class has an elusive monster buck livin' in its ranks that rivals any one that challenges him #90 Malcolm "high flyer" hill. 4-8 50 winner is having a great year of racing #38 5pm a cool breeze started to blowin and 46 adult pitsters roared to the start. This was a topsy turby turnout. The top 3 overall winners were not 12 pointers but #8 Ryan "noodle" klair, #393 factory Phil Morshead of the young bucks & big slam daddy #311 ol' Joey ford dominated the kings’ domain. By 6pm 21 youth pitsters broke into the woods for the challenge. no doubt the spike bucks dominated but 2 unparticular put a show on that would intimidate any monster buck #90 Malcolm hill & 2nd #122 dilan Abrams locked horns straight to the checkered. Absolute goose bumps. Great show! As the last button buck made its way off the course the band fired up and "the hammer heads" played all night for us. The surrounding woods acted like an amphitheatre and everyone sitting at their camps had great music in stereo! 9pm the tractor started pulling the 1st of 4 jersey devil hayrides. Those woods were full of strange happenings and monsters. Some even say they saw the jersey devil, but don't worry, everyone made it out alive! Sunday morning came mighty early and with a little monster of a gift from Mother Nature to boot. 8am the youth poured onto the lines and so did the rain. With the course being drenched, it turned a tough course into a pure survival run. Wet grass tracks, wet roots & mud made it anyone’s game in every class. AA youth are always the first to start out Sundays events and they always set the bar high for the day-today was no different. 1st #8 Ryan "noodle" Klair was scrapin paint with 2nd #504 tanner "wildman" Thomas & 3rd #300 Kyle "bomber" Mcdonal thee entire race, each takin their fair share of wipe outs! 12-15 100 1st & 5th o/a owned the class #564 Robbie civiletti but I have to give a shout out to #191 Zach Gallo, he thrived in such treacherous conditions. 14-15 85 winner proved to be the monster buck for this class #420 Raymond sammartino dominated. 12-13 85 was another class that had a monster buck dominated #901 "the trucker" Danny gandy rode the course like it was smooth as glass. 10-11 85 winner also excelled in these conditions #109 Thorn "slappy" Devlin showed his Irish grit and his horns. 13-15 150 not only had a buck win #488 William pierce but had a doe #824 rylee devlin let him know he wasn't winning with out a fight from her and she gave him a good one. 10-11 65 winner had his set of horns shined up and never missed a beat #122 dillan Abrams led the herd. #289 Kevin "Army" 11am the rain had cleared, the sun came out & the C riders set off. The 4 strokes were the leaders of that monster herd. 1st o/a #126 Jason Dowgiallo did an awesome job keeping the lead while 2nd & 3rd battled it out to the finish #762 Paul summers & #267 Brian rowan. B Super Senior #909 David Baechino came in 5th o/a right ahead of C light #202 Jonathan Davis. The C riders came off the course muddy, tired, parts missing and ready for a nap. They conquered the monster woods but not without it leaving its teeth marks on every rider & bike. 1:30 came quick. The temperature reached 80+, the monster bugs came out for lunch and the C riders helped Mother Nature give the main event guys an even tougher course to ride. Thank goodness they had a special loop untouched just for them, I am sure they were glad to see it. There is a reason why these big bucks make it to AA status, because they have learned that AA fast doesn't always mean you go AA fast. In these conditions you use your head not your throttle. as they all said at the end "there were plenty of lines to take, you just had to slow down a bit and choose the right one" We had men out through the whole course cutting new trail around the strip mines from each previous lap. When you watch the video you will see what I mean about the AA fast guys picking their lines. The top 5 overall monster bucks were all AA starting with #356 Ryan Rodgers as thee elusive monster buck BUT believe me he was locking horns the whole race with 2nd, his bro, #5 Eric Rodgers & 3rd #11 Jack Lafferty Jr. the first A Heavy & 6th o/a #737 Joe Sumpter battled to the flag with A Vet #180 Norman Innis. 11th o/a was the 1st b rider to the checkered. like a seasoned monster buck 15year old B light #326 Kenny "To Tall" Tenner came to the finish without a trace of velvet left on his horns. the top 15 riders are of all ages and sized bikes and yet they all rode the same incredibly great race. AGAIN, this was a true harescramble survival run. All elements riding came into play when trying to survive this event. We ALL are thee elusive monster buck because we survived on our keen instincts and senses. Q: What do you get when you cross a Nor'east storm & monster buck woods? A: One Helluva Ride!! ps. the course is no longer Virgin! A Special thanks to the Hickman family for their generosity. Without them this event would not have happened. We can not say enough about all the hard work that the NEOC Staff & All the volunteers put in to make this weekend a success. It took a lot of pain staking hours being eaten alive by bugs to cut & groom the course then it took a lot of muscle and sweat to maintain the course all weekend to the best of our ability for the riders to be able to have the best race we could give them. With out the sacrifices from all these people the NEOC would not be! Lastly, but most important, we THAK ALL OF THE RIDERS, PIT CREWS & FAMILIES for coming out to support our series and making all the hard work 150% worth it. We know you appreciate it and we will always aim to please you, after all, THIS IS ALL ABOUT YOU! |
