NORTHEAST OFFROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ROUND 4 ORMOND FARMS Millville, NJ May 2nd & 3rd 2009 |
|
The Farmers Daughter is looking for some help now that it’s spring time on the farm. Lots of hay to throw, stalls to clean and seeds to sow. Her Pa is heading into town for the weekend so she is having a party and sends you an invite to help her Git-R-Done and have some fun so Grab your partner and dosey doe on down to Hesstown Road. Thank you for coming down and having a little fun with the farmers daughter, Lovely Lois! Pictures & Video if you don't find what you are looking for just check back and it will be there before ya know it! Check out Tim Ds Photos He got great shots of everyone having some fun down on the farm! Special thanks to Lois Twigg & Gene Jost. 500+ riders & 100% good time! What a great round 4. Can you believe its its May and we have 4 rounds under our belt already? Well, how does it go from 90* & sunburn to damp & chilly with a soaking rain in a week? We have always said that mother nature has a sense of humor when it comes to racing and likes to mess with us from time to time just to let us know who is charge. But hey, if you remember the dust bowl from last year then you welcomed the rain just as much as we did. Saturday the Tikes on Bikes had 14 little eager beavers busting down the dams blocking their way. We decided to give them an optional hill cllimb challenge. thinking that a few would give a try. Everyone lined the sides of the hill to help and encourage the few that would try......Low & behold all 14 tikes were waiting to go! goose bumps, cheers and tears were had by all. What a thrill to see and take part in such a milestone for these tough tikes! 3pm another record turnout of PeeWees flooded the pit to line up for an eciting hour of racing. 87 PWs and an unexpected mighty turn out in the 4-8 OI class. 30 youngins, half of which, were 1st time racers. Watching the holeshot video I was laughing because all I kept thinking was that they looked like a batch of sea turtles that just hatched and were heading out to sea to go face all the challenges that lay ahead of them. We are going to have to make a special time and race for this class if ( and I think it will) continues to grow. For the safety of the little guys and easier on the faster kids in race mode. Tikes at 12p then 4-8 OI at 1pm. the top 3 overall winners were #312 Sal cusimano, #20 Ryan Hall & #90 Malcolm Hill but man anywhere you looked there was a bar to bar, paint scraping battle and place changes on every lap. 5pm the Pit bikes followed suit and brought us a record turnout too. 70 fun seeking, bar bangin pitsters entertained us for an hour & a half. 3 12 pointer pros were the first to kick it over but a big slam daddy took the overall #96 Sean Gaughan came in and showed them just why he is a big slam daddy. The youth pit bikers are always a blast to watch. Top 2 #122 Dillan Abrams & #90 Malcolm Hill were dicing it up the whole race with the rest of the spike bucks dominating but 3rd overall threw some stuff in the game. Button buck #109 Thorn "Slappy" Devlin grew a nice set of horns for this event! 7pm Saturday night our DJ from Bravo Entertainment turned the mike on and kept us gettin giggy wid it all night. How fun was it to be dancing at a motorcycle event. The May birthday bash was so much fun. How many people do you think sang happy birthday all at one time? Thank you for helping us celebrate a special day. We couldn't have asked for a better time or way to spend saturday night. Sunday morning we woke up with an ominous cloud hanging over us just waiting to open up and empty it all on us. All of the NEOC crew was excited for this days events to start because of all the new things added and changes made to this course. the first big addition was the step up built by Bill Hall and all the worker bees. Wow how cool and exciting was it to see them all just flying by us in the air? Some even trying out a trick or two for the crowd. 8:30am 107 youth lined up and had the national anthem sang for them by the beautiful and talented Renee Sheppard. AA Youth, as always, were the first to head out on the 5.5 mile knarly course. The top 3 had a great race and cut the trail in for all aothers to follow. #504 Tanner "Wildman" Thomas, #300 Kyle "Bomber" McDonal & #981 Dylan Frey dominated the course. i want to give a shout out and props to 10-11 85 1st place #109 Thorn "Slappy" Devlin who also took 7th overall...I told you he grew a set of horns for this event. He was running with the big dogs like I ain't ever seen. Mighty things come in small packages and he is one of them. 12-13 85 winner & 9th overall #901 Danny "Trucker" Gandy rode like a champ up there with the big dogs too. The entry level womans class had just exploded this year. We have young & older beginner ladies/girls that got tired of watchin their husbands, brothers, boyfriends and sons race. I mean really, how long can you hold an umbrella for someone before it gets old and you start feeling the itch to get out there and ride. All I can say is this, AND MARK MY WORDS PLEASE, in 5 years time we are going to have a strong competitve womens class that is gonna scare a lot a boys. It's already happening, take a look at a few of the classes and overalls, you will find numerous girls in the top. Also, a side bar, take a look at the girls in the Tikes & PW classes....'Nuff said! 11am 120 C Riders rumbled to the pits and set up for the step up. But what most of them did was learn exactly why bark busters were made and just how well they actually work. We challenged them in the root section and when roots get wet we all know what happens. There was bark missing on all the trees in that section right at bark buster level and then some. Even a couple chunks were missing in the trees that were at airplane level and we have no idea how they got there but our hats off to the guy that did it because you drove home. 1:30pm 96 fast boys lined up on the gate and that is when the sky opened up on us. There was a sea of umbrellas as far as you could see. I even saw a sponge bob umbrella out there. The main event had an 8+ mile course to tackle in a down pour. They had an extra knarly loop to challenge the skilled rider. Mother nature must have thought it wasn't tough enough so she added her own section to the entire course. Just hanging on to the bike and seeing anything at all to finish made you the champ! It amazes me to see those A guys go so dang fast in those conditions. It's unbelievable how smooth they ride. #356 Ryan Rodgers had an awesome battle with Ol' Huff daddy himself #459 Shane Hufford kept him honest all day long. This event was another sheer survival run. EVERYONE SURVIVED ANOTHER NOR'EASTER!! Thank You to all the NEOC Staff & Volunteers that made this a safe & successful weekend. Without everyone pulling together, this event could have gotten ugly.
