First and foremost we want to thank Camp Pecometh for allowing us to come in and use their beautiful land. Second we want to thank all of you for respecting the land and their wishes. Clean up was a breeze and we didn't see any alcohol or dogs.

NEOC STAFF & VOLUNTEERS

Round 2 April 4th & 5th 2009 Thee Almighty Pecometh, aka: The Briar Patch. I got caught up in so many cat briars that by the end of the weekend I swear I had cat scratch fever!

EVS Winners: Adult- Mark Terpak   Youth- Brandon Gahm

50/50 Winner Jackie Prignano

Wow what a glorious event. 425+ strong. Saturday was so windy we were going to attach string to the Tikes & PeeWees and have a kid flying contest. I'm telling you we could've done it! The weather was perfect once the winds settled down and let the Nor'east breeze take over. The course was 100% new trail. A little bit of grass, a whole lotta woods, Briars, vines, off camber knarly climbs, roots, awesome competition, beautiful scenery & great company. Now that is a fine weekend! Heavenly food was fresh and hot all day long. Chuckie was filling the air waves all weekend long with racer updates and announcements to keep us informed. Easter egg hunts for the kids and Indian Legend stories by the camp fire Saturday night were really cool. The sun set on the chester river and lit the sky up with orange, yellows & pinks. Everything is okay when that happens.

I want to share with all of you what was told to us by the people that run Camp Pecometh.  I quote "I have been doing this for 15 year and have had all kinds of children and families here at this camp, this group of kids are one of the best, well behaved, nice kids and families that we have ever had come to this camp!" End Quote! How proud we are of the NEOC FAMILY!!

Saturday started out with our Mountain bike challenge in the a.m. The Local Fella that came out to race liked it so much he did another lap. We were sad to only have one show up but we had a lot of fun with him anyway.

1pm 8 Tikes loaded up on their personal taxi to the start line. The tikes impressed us so much in the past that we decided to up the ante a little bit with them and send them into the woods. We were a bit apprehensive wondering if they would be scared....YEAH RIGHT!! watch the video and see for yourselves! They are doing so well with learning and trying new things we give them. They are learning the rules & etiquette of racing. They are doing very well with watching the flags and following the arrows and course. In 8-10 years when these kids are on the front lines of the youth classes just blowing us away, I am totally breaking these videos out at the banquet!

3pm 66 Peewees filled the starting area. They are always the ones that go on the first flag drop of each event. They set the bar high every time for the rest of the weekends events. They went out on a 2 1/2 mile course at full speed right from jump street. The top overall kids were bangin bars the whole way. 1st &2nd overall were 7-9 65s #312 Sal Cusimano & #20 Ryan Hall. The next 3 o/a were from the new Thumper class and man can you feel them thumpin through the woods when their frieght training down the trail. #90 Malcolm "the High Flyer" Hill, #916 Troy "Cricket" Abel & #140 Brock Lore.  It won't be long before these cats are all up in the Youth division (which they ghost ride in now). The competition that is developing right before our eyes is just amazing. We get to watch it from the beginning, how cool is that?!

5pm The Pit bike boys & gals line up for some fun on the run. It is just a good time watchin the pit bikes out there dicin' it up. It is nice to see the new beginner kids getting out there in the pit races. They are learning good skills, the more you ride the more you learn, the more you learn the better you become. Everyone put on a fine show for us but the top overalls were #393 Factory Phil Morshead  Young bucks, #39 Mark Williams 12 Pointer, #40 Nicky McCollough Young Bucks, #102 Sam Hansen 12 Pointer & #37 Eric Wood Young Bucks.....do you see the pattern in the adult Pit bike. The young bucks sure like to shine their horns when they are trying to go against the monster bucks.  The top youth o/a Pits #90 Malcolm Hill, #122 Dillan Abrams, #916 Troy Abel, #44 Cody Lore & #202 Mike Shaw all run in the spike bucks but that whole class runs in a fierce herd!

Sunday 5:30am coffee started brewing, 6am the sun was rising and all the early bird workers were roaming the work stations, 7am Sign ups started, 8am the youth were heading to the line and at 8:30am sharp the green flag dropped and officially started the race day! The AA Youth were 1st to throw the roost. Top 4 o/a went down like this AA #504 Tanner "Wildman" Thomas, #8 Ryan "Noodle" Klair, #95 Chase Rusden & #19 Jeff Hall and it was right to the flag EXCELLENT RACING GUYS! #413 Anthony Venuto was the 1st 100 to take the flag. 14-15 85 was taken by our #56 Megan Horseman throwin some serious girl power in the mix. 12-13 85 was owned by #139 Bryan Font. 10-11 85 and top 20 o/a #58 Gary Enman Team Caffeine. #777 Andrew Alcorn had a commanding lead for 150 class. 10-11 65 winner rode like he was on an 85 #122 Dillan Abrams. #293 Hunter Bush had a great win for the 10-12 125. Taking her 2nd win this year in the ELW #544 Brianna Barnhardt! great ride girl. I know I shouldn't do this but I'm gonna take a little advantage of my position here and brag about my niece #48 Jodi Hartem. She hasn't ridden since last year so we were excited about her being on the line again. She did great but took a real bad spell over the bars. Once she got her wind back and took inventory she made them bring her bike back to her so she could finish the race. Tough girls out there on the course. While we are talking about spills on the course, i want to give a shout out to #107 "The Duke" Danny Deluke broke his wrist when he lost an argument with a tree. He's out for the season but will be back strong next year along with #291 "Slim Shady" Jesse Davis.  It's tough when someone you know gets hurt and in this sport some times we see ugly ones happen but never loose the faith and always remember that laughter is the best medicine. (chocolate helps too)

11am sharp the C-Split class powered to the line. This Division rivals the numbers in the main event. The new 4 stroke class is a dominate force in the C event.  Top o/a guys were #910 Darren Huff C Heavy, #126 Jason Dowgiallo C 4stroke, #756 James Turner C 4stroke, #202 Johnathan Davis C Light (no crash video for me at this race), #59 Jeremy Jones C Heavy, #491 Danny Diniglio C 4stroke & #762 Paul Summers C 4stroke. A lot of these riders will be moving up to the main event next year so I hope they get ready for them.

1:30 was key time for the Main Event but due to an accident shutting down Rt 1 we delayed the start til 2pm to allow everyone time to get in and signed up. It was worth the wait because when the big dogs broke their chains it was a 2 hour chase for the rabbit. 1st & 2nd O/A were the Rodger Brothers #356 Ryan Rodgers & #5 Eric Rodgers. 3rd is a Phenom to say the least 14 year old #459 Shane Hufford was barkin on their hind quarters. 4th & 5th never seperated til they went home that night #902 Tyler McCreight &  '08 NEOC AA Champ #1 Kevin Bennett. The whole main event was nothing but goose bump bar to bar lightning fast battles in every class. Check out videos and see for yourselves. My hats are off to all you guys,  you definitely ate your alpo for breakfast! What a great year this is starting out to be!

Thank you to all the riders, pit crews and families for coming out to our races and being part of the Dream!

HAVE A GREAT EASTER and remember,  if its brown leave it on the ground!

See everyone at Irish Valley for Round 3. Oh Yeah, Remember it is the first race of the Triple Crown! Don't forget to get your team in before Irish Valley.
